Policies and Dress Code

At KDC Studios, we believe structure and discipline are vital in dance. These principles enhance skills and foster personal growth. Join us in cultivating a foundation for your dance journey.

Studio Rules

For Everyone:

  • Children Under 12 must be supervised by a parent No running, yelling or rough playing at KDC Studios.

  • Help keep KDC Studios clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash. No “messy” food is allowed in the lobby.

  • No obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated by either parents or students.

  • Friends and family are welcome to observe classes the first week of every month, or when curtains are open.

  • Only dancers are allowed in the dance studios.

 

For Dancers:​​

  • Missed classes can be made up with teacher approval.

  • No running, yelling or rough playing at KDC Studios.

  • Help keep your studio clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash. Only eat in designated areas.

  • No obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated during class or around KDC Studios.

  • No gum, food or drink of any kind (except water) is allowed inside the studio rooms.

  • Be prepared for class. A proper dress code is required for all dance classes.

  • Hair must be pulled up.

  • Use restroom prior to class.

  • Be on time.

  • No cell phones. (During class)

  • No gum is allowed in class.

  • Be respectful and kind to teachers, peers and staff.

  • Be willing to try new dance material. Put positive energy into your dance class.

  • If injured, tell instructor prior to class…work slowly & carefully or observe.

  • If you must leave early, notify instructor prior to class.

  • When leaving the studio; do not go outside during cooler weather without a warm-up. It is important to control the cooling process to avoid injury. In addition, please respect your art by keeping your dance attire confined to the studio.

Dress right, dance right! The perfect outfit boosts confidence and lets you express yourself. Choose styles that make you feel fabulous and ready to move! The right attire transforms your experience.

Dance Dress Code

  • Ballet, pre-ballet and pointe

    • required— black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes (pointe shoes). Hair must be in a tight bun

    • Optional— black tight dance shorts or small ballet skirt over leotard 

  • Jazz

    • Required— shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts), jazz pants and black jazz shoes 

    • Optional— leotard, tights with tight dance shorts, shirts you can move in

  • Acro Jazz

    • Required— leotard, jazz pants and black jazz shoes 

    • Optional— tights with tight dance shorts, shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts) 

  • Tap

    • Required— shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts), jazz pants and black tap shoes 

    • Optional— leotard, tights with tight dance shorts, shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts) 

  • Contemporary 

    • Required— shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts) and jazz pants 

    • Optional— leotard, tights with tight dance shorts

  • Tumbling

    • Required— leotard, jazz pants or tight dance shorts 

    • Optional— shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts) 

  • Dance workout 

    • Required— shirts you can move in (gym shirt or lightweight t-shirts), jazz pants or dance shorts and tennis shoes

    • Optional— leotard

  • Creative movement 

    • Required— leotard and tights of any color. Pink ballet shoes 

    • Optional— dance skirt 

  • Hip hop and break dancing 

    • Required— dance pants, baggy t-shirt and tennis shoes. 

    • Optional- flannel shirt to tie around waist, hoodie

  • For all classes dancers must look presentable and clean. this includes wearing deodorant if needed. 

  • Hair must be pulled back NEATLY out of the eyes. No loose hairs. *For Ballet; hair must be in a tight bun.
